No wait, I invest in stocks and I make music. What am I, a musician or an investor? What’s going on in the world? Am I still a musician? How can I do that with so much uncertainty in the world? Have I changed? Is the world changing? It feels like it’s getting impossible to keep up with the news! What is happening now? Click here now!!!
Changes
Recently I have noticed a lot of shifts and changes. Am I getting old, or is the news cycle getting faster, or is social media a bad thing that I should delete? Delete All. Yes. Unsubscribe. You have selected – a cave dweller.
A change in my life circumstances, a shift in the economy and a more volatile market, a change in perceptions about whether or not a recession is coming or not coming, and when it is coming, a change in presidential candidates in America, the list goes on.
AI is moving at lightspeed as are Apps, Computers, smartphones, and all the rest of it. I don’t even know what I want and if I did I wouldn’t know whether to buy it now or yesterday… I think we are all becoming robots… Scary. Not to mention these new creepy men in suits. I mean robots. Or is it a man in a suit?
Too Much Information
The rate at which information comes at me is mindboggling, and I’m starting to feel like an under-evolved ape. I don’t think we are designed to handle this much information. Where is the off button?
I do love chat GPT, but I think I am now more addicted to information than ever. It is good to learn things and have a personal assistant to talk to 24/7, and this is certainly the best new technology since the iPhone, but what will this look like in 10 years, or 20? And when did I last make any music?
Let’s look at what’s going on in the world first. I’ll just check my social media pages for a few minutes, and then I’ll write a song.
A few hours later…
Should I post this article in music technology or create a new category? Will Google penalize me for this one? Who cares. More coffee…..
News
There is too much news and I’m turning it off.
America
America concerns everyone, even if they are not American, according to TikTok’s algorithm. You watch one video of a president almost getting assassinated and suddenly you are subjected to endless clips of Kamala dancing badly….
Trump dancing badly and Biden speaking badly…
Obama mocking other presidents. Trump mocking his opponents. Trump lying. All the others lying as well. Same deal in England. And the legacy media with their lies, and agenda, and bias.
And you are wondering what the hell is happening in America. And England. And everywhere else. Where is the off button, quick!
I wish I could say things were better in the UK but as an Englishman living abroad (in Thailand), I can tell you honestly that things look equally if not more worrying over the pond. I’m not going back.
The UK
In these uncertain economic and political times I think it is important to remain focused on your goals, long-term investing over short-term trades if you invest at all, and keep yourself happy, and motivated, and not to give up hope. And ignore the news.
The news in the UK is not something I used to concern myself with too much. It always seemed to be doom and gloom. However, when 3 little girls are brutally stabbed and murdered in their primary school, I pay attention.
This one hit me and made me realize something very important. England is not safe. Not in all areas at least, not in all cities, and certainly not in all towns. Something is wrong.
What is going on over there? I know one thing for sure, I don’t want to live there unless it is in a big house, in a small village, surrounded by large walls, in the middle of the countryside. But that doesn’t sound fun either. And I sound like Trump. Scary.
And anyway, who can afford that? Nobody.
It’s a shame, as I never felt overly unsafe growing up in England, and was mostly at ease in school, at home, and when out and about in Essex. Why did things change?
Music
I feel like I have barely had a chance to play or make music in the past few months because I am so caught up with investing world events, and other projects. Hopefully writing this article will help me to rectify that.
I still love music, and plan to make it the most significant part of my life. Perhaps I will listen to some classic albums tonight, and reignite the fires.
Perhaps I should upgrade my MacBook Pro 2019 Intel chip. I could pull the plug (if you’ll pardon the pun) on a new Mac mini with an m2 or m3 chip, 552 GB or 1TB of RAM, and with Logic Pro pre-installed.
That should get me going. Mind you, are new m3 chips coming soon, or are they already launched, and shipping?! Should I wait? Can’t keep up. Again. And I’m only 29.
In other news, I just got the free Musio subscription. Time to make some film score and video game soundtracks for my portfolio!
Conclusion
Don’t panic. Buy the dip. Make music. Relax. Have a pint, and wait for all this to blow over. Also, thanks for reading, and let me know your thoughts about the topics covered in this article.
