The Nord Grand is the first stage piano from Nord to feature triple sensors that track the movements on the hammers rather than the keys, delivering the smooth dynamic touch of an acoustic grand.

The well-balanced and responsive triple sensor keybed features an advanced mechanism providing extraordinary control both when playing percussively as well as pianissimo with fluent repetitions and retriggering without lifting the key completely.

The Nord Grand contains a wide selection of unique Grand, Upright, Electric, and Digital pianos from the exclusive Nord Piano Library.

The factory bank includes 10 Grands, 9 Uprights, 10 Enhanced Electric Pianos, Clavinet, Digital Pianos, and more from the exclusive Nord Piano Library – all handpicked for their unique character.

The Nord Grand also features a Sample Synth Section with a broad selection of Strings, Brass, Synths, Choirs, and many other high-quality sounds from the Nord Sample Library 3.0.

The Effect section has a wide range of instantly tweakable high-quality stereo effects modeled after classic stomp boxes. All effects can be assigned freely to the Piano or Sample Synth section.

Questions to Consider:

  1. How does the triple sensor technology in the Nord Grand enhance the playing experience compared to other digital pianos?
  2. What unique features does the Nord Grand offer that set it apart from other stage pianos in the market?
  3. How does Nord Grand’s Sample Synth Section and Effect section contribute to its versatility in sound production?

The Nord triple is an excellent addition to high-end Nord pianos. It adds an extra layer of piano realism to their instruments:

The Nord Electro 6D 61 Stage Piano is a versatile instrument that is designed to cater to the needs of professional musicians.

It features a 61-note semi-weighted waterfall keybed, which is perfect for rapid organ shredding and synthesizer licks. The keyboard is velocity-sensitive, providing a responsive and expressive playing experience.

One of the standout features of the Nord Electro 6D 61 is its three independent sound sections: Organ, Piano, and Sample Synth. These sections can be used simultaneously as a layer or a split, offering a wide range of sound possibilities.

When compared to more expensive Nord Instruments such as the Piano and Stage series, the Electro holds its own with sounds.

Whilst the sample memory may be smaller, it is possible to use an electro as your main gigging board, and it is lighter which is always a plus.

The organ section shines on the Electro, as it does on the Stage, Piano, and Grand series. If you are primarily an organist, the Nord Electro 6D is an excellent option, with its authentic B3, Transistor, pipe organs, and vintage 122 Rotary Speaker emulation.

The Organize/Page mode allows you to group sets of up to four programs into pages, which can be arranged using the Organize mode. This feature is particularly useful for live performances, where quick access to different sound setups is crucial.

The piano section of the Nord Electro 6D 61 offers a wide selection of acoustic, electric, and digital pianos from the exclusive Nord Piano Library.

The enhanced Sample Synth Section features expanded memory for the Nord Sample Library 3.0 and extended polyphony. This means that you can load in your own samples and create unique sounds, further expanding the instrument’s versatility.

The Nord Electro 6D 61 also features a 4 Live Slots feature which allows you to freely assign sound engines to be controlled by an external keyboard, while others are played from the Nord Electro 6.

This is a powerful feature for live performances, where you might want to control multiple sound sources from a single keyboard.

In terms of build and design, I can personally attest to the roadworthiness of the Nord Electro series.

The Nord Electro 4D that I owned was used extensively for performances at hundreds of weddings and events and was frequently on the road in its soft gig bag over the 4 years that I owned and used it live (see below for gig bags for 73 and 61 key Electros).

Whilst minor surface scratches were inevitable over time, the instrument was extremely sturdy and never developed any faults on stage or at home.

The Nord Electro 6D will be as durable or better, as Nord has a history of improving its products with every new model.

I am using the Nord electro 4 semi-weighted waterfall keyboard in the video below:
